If a drug has a concentration of 400 mg per 10 ml, how many mL are needed to give 1.5 grams of the drug?

    We can use the simple ratio of y = mx + b

    400mg = 10L (m) + 0

    40mg = 1mL

    1mL = 40mg

    40 (37.5) = 37.5mL

    1500mg = 37.5mL

    37.5 milliliters of space is required to hold 1.5 grams of material.

    This is one way or you could have been smart and used density which is volume = mass/density

    10 = 400/density

    10 (density) = 400

    density = 400/10

    density equals 40 mg per mL

    1500 = 40 (Volume)

    1500/40 = Volume

    37.5 = Volume

    37.5 milliliters of space is required to hold 1.5 grams of material.
