Division is basically repeated subtraction.
For example, if you ask "what is 6 divided 2?", you're asking "how many times do I need to subtract 2 from 6 until I get to 0?"
Let's see it in action
6/2
6 - 2 - 2 - 2 = 0
As you can see, you subtract 2 from 6 three times, so 6 divided by 2 is 3.
