Mr. Smith has a honeybee colony on his farm. On average, 1,000 bees can gather enough nectar for 1 ounce of honey each day. If Mr. Smith wants his bees to produce 3.5 pounds of honey each week, how many bees will he need in his bee colony?

    16 ounces = a pound so 16,000 bees we need to know how many bees we need so we do 16,000 times 3 = 48,000 bees but we go. 5 left so we divide the 16,000 into 8,000 and add that to 48,000 to = 56,000 bees to produce 3.5 pounds of honey every week there are also 7 days in a week so you can do 56,000 divide by 7 to = 8,000 bees per day to get 3.5 pounds of honey
