To find the unit, you have to divide y by x. Let's do it for the 5 pound chicken first.

14.95:5=2.99 per pound.

Now he 8 pounds.

23.36:8=2.92 per pound.

Which ever one is less per pound would be known as a better buy.

Since the 8 pound chicken is less per pound, it would be a better buy.
