If the distance across the window is 10 ft, what is the area of the semicircular part of the window? Use 3.14 for and round the answer to the nearest hundredth. 39.25 m

    D = diameter of semicircle = 10 ft

    Therefore, r = d/2 = 10/2 = 5 ft. r^2 = 25

    And, the formula for area of a semicircle is half that of a circle so,

    A/2 = [ (pie=3.14) x r^2] / 2

    = [3.14 x 25 ] / 2

    = 39.25 m
