What value of y makes this equation true?

-12 = 6 + 2/3y

    -12 = 6 + 2/3y

    Subtract 6 from both sides

    -18 = 2/3y

    Multiply both sides by 3

    -54 = 2y

    Divide both sides by 2

    -27 = y
