A club with nine girls and six boys is choosing two representatives to meet with the other clubs. The probability that the club chooses a girl and then a boy for the representative spots is.

Using this probability, determine if the event of choosing a girl for the first spot and the event of choosing a boy for the second spot are independent, dependent, both, or neither.

    Number of boys = 6

    In other to choose two representatives, the probability of choosing a boy and then a girl is;

    Total number of boys and girls = (9 + 6) = 15

    Probability = (required outcome / Total possible outcomes)

    Probability of a girl and then a boy:

    (Number of girls / total number) * (number of boys / total number - 1)

    (9/15) * (6/14) = 54/210 = 9/35

    B.) The event is both dependent and independent because both events can occur independently, however, the total number of possible outcomes is altered when determining the probability for the second spot.
