Suppose that 12% of people own dogs. If two people are randomly chosen, what is the probability that they both own a dog? Write your answer as a percent and round to the nearest hundredth of a percent.

    It is given that 12% of the people owns dog. If we choose one random person to owns dog then probability will become that 0.12 person owns dogs.

    Now when we choose two random person who owns dogs, then it is observed that

    Let X (both people owns dogs) = X times X

    because first person owns dog and second person also owns dog.

    So the probability of both people owning dogs is 0.12 x 0.12 = 0.0144

    = 1.44%
