Last saturday, the museum box office sold 281 tickets for a total of $3,954. Adult tickets cost $15, and student tickets cost $12. How many of each kind of ticket were sold?

    If all were student tickets, revenue would be 12·281 = 3372. It is actually 3954-3372 = 582 more than that. Each adult ticket sold increases revenue by $3, so there must have been 582/3 = 194 adult tickets sold. Then 87 student tickets were sold.
