    Let the number of coins added (including the first day and the 6th day) = T (total)

    Let the number of days = x

    T = 6 + 2n Answer

    Now what you want is n = 6

    T = 6 + 2*6

    T = 18

    6+2t

    6 for the number of quarters they started with

    2 for the number of quarters they put in per day

    t for the number of days

    6+2 (6) = 18
