    h (x) = - kx + 14

    18 = - k*2 + 14 since x=2

    18 = - 2k + 14

    subtract 14 from each side

    4 = - 2k

    divide by - 2

    -2 = k

    k = - 2

    evaluate h (2), equate to 18 and solve for k

    h (2) = - 2k + 14 = 18 (subtract 14 from both sides)

    - 2k = 4 (divide both sides by - 2)

    k = - 2
