    0.6y + 0.02 = 0.3y - 0.4

    Subtract 0.3y from both sides.

    0.3y + 0.02 = - 0.4

    Subtract 0.02 from both sides.

    0.3y = - 0.42

    Divide both sides by 0.3.

    y = - 1.4
