The space shuttle travels at 28,000 km per hour. Using that information, estimate how many hours it will take the shuttle to reach Saturn from earth. Show your work, and convert your standard number to scientific notation.

In my problem the Saturns distance from the sun is: 1,424,000,000 KM

and earths distance from the sun is: 149,600,000

    Subtract the distance of the Earth from the sun from the distance of Saturn from the sun to find the distance from Earth to Saturn:

    1,424,000,000 - 149,600,000 = 1,274,400,000 km (Saturn from Earth)

    Divide the distance by the speed to find the time:

    1,274,400,000 km / 28,000 km per hour = 45,514.2857 hours.

    Round to 45,514 hours.
