    38 miles = 1 gallon

    190 miles = x gallons

    x = number of gallons of gasoline will take to travel 190 miles.

    Cross multiple ...

    38*x = 190*1

    38x = 190

    x = 190/38

    x = 5

    It takes 5 gallons of gasoline to travel 190 miles.
