1) with the formula V=X/T, where X is distance and T is time you can verify with speed is greater

the speed of Emma is V = 3/4:6, V = 3/4 * 1/6 = 3/24 ⇒V = 1/8 m/h

the distance of joanie is 1 + 1/2 = 3/2 now the speed of Joanie is V = (3/2) : 11, V = (3/2) : 11, V = 3/22 m/h

as 1/8 = 0.125 and 3/22 = 0.136 then the speed of joannie is greater than Emma
