try to get rid of one of the variables by multiplying both equations by a numbers to make the variables equal. For example if you want to get rid of the x variable and in the equation it says 3x and 2x, you would multiply the entire equation by 2 and 3 to make them both 6x and because you have to increase the entire equation by the same number to make it equal. Then you would subtract them. This would elimnate a variable. solve the remaining equation. Then continue solving the equation from there by plugging in the variable that you just got.
