-4x + 2y=2 (equa ... 1)
-3x + y=4 (equa ... 2)
From equa ... 2
y=4 + 3x (equal ... 3)
Substitute y=4 + 3x into equation 1
- 4x + 2y=2 (equation 1)
-4x + 2 (4x + 3x) = 2
-4x + 8x + 6x = 2
10x=2
Divide both sides by 10
x=2/10=1/5
x=1/5 or 0.2
Substitute x=0.2 into equation 1
-4x + 2y=2
-4 (0.2) + 2y=2
-4.8 + 2y=2
Collect like terms
2y=2 + 4.8
2y=6.8
Divide both side by 2
y=6.8/2
y=3.4
Hence, x=1/5 or 0.2, y=3.4
