The sum of the measures of the angles of a triangle is 180 °. Determine the three angles of a triangle, if an angle is 20 ° greater than the smallest angle and the third angle is twice the smallest angle.

    Let smallest angle = x

    the other is x+20

    and the last is 2x

    combine all to equal 180

    x+x+20+2x=180

    combine like terms

    4x+20=180

    4x=160

    x=40

    therefore the 3 angles are 40, 60, and 80.
