    There were 250 hamburgers sold

    Step-by-step explanation:

    h = hamburgers

    c = cheeseburgers

    c+h = 575

    c = 75+h

    c+h = 575

    Substituting 75+h in for c in the second equation

    75+h + h = 575

    Combine like terms

    75+2h = 575

    Subtract 75 from each side

    75-75 + 2h = 575-75

    2h = 500

    Divide each side by 2

    2h/2 = 500/2

    h = 250

    There were 250 hamburgers sold
