Two sides of a triangle measure 2 x - 4 and 7 x - 2 units, respectively. Which of these is a possible length for the third side of the triangle

    2 x - 4 = 7 x - 2 =

    2 x - 7 x = - 2 + 4

    -5x=2

    which then you change it to a decimal and becomes

    x = - 2/5 or x = 0.4
