Mrs. Miller has a trapezoid shaped

poster. Its bases are 18 inches and

10 inches and the height is 7 inches.

How many square inches would

she need to cover the poster with

paint?

    Formula for area of a trapezoid:

    Area = a+b/2 x h, where a and b are the two bases.

    Area = (18 + 10) / 2 x 7

    Area = 28/2 x 7 = 14 x 7 = 98 square inches.
