Find the solution of this system of equations - 2x+8y=14 and - 2x-2y=-26

Note that both equations contain - 2x so if we subtract them this will disappear.

-2x + 8y = 14

-2x - 2y = - 26 Subtract:-

0 + 10y = 40

y = 4

Substitute fro y in the first equation:-

-2x + 8 (4) = 14

-2x = 14 - 32 = - 18

x = 9

Answer x = 9 y = 4
