The maximum heart rate, in beats per minute, that you should achieve during exercise is 220 minus your age, 220-a. Your exercise goal is to improve cardiovascular conditioning. Use the following formulas to answer parts a and b. Lower limit of range H equals=seven tenths left parenthesis 220 minus a right parenthesis 7 / 10 (220-a) Upper limit of range Hequals=four fifths 4 / 5 (220 minus a220-a ) a. Lower limit for H is given as = 7/10 * (220-a) where a is the age of the person

    a. We have to calculate the lower limit for a person whose age is 47

We substitute the age "a" = 47 in the above equation to calculate the lower limit.

    Lower limit = 7/10 * (220-47)

    Lower limit = 7/10*173

    Lower Limit = 1211/10 = 121.10 = 121 beats/minute (since we cannot have fractional beats)

Lower limit of the heart range in beats per minute = 121 beats/minute
