On a map, 1 inch equals 15 miles. If two cities are 6 inches apart on the map, how far are they actually apart?

    1 inch = 15 miles

    6 inches = 6*15 = 90miles

    1 in / 15 miles = 6 in / x miles

    using cross products

    1 * x = 15 * 6

    x = 90

    the distance is 90 miles
