I have to rewrite the equation - 3x+9y=12 so that it's in standard form

    If you were to need to rewrite this equation into standard for you would do the following:

    -3x+9y=12

    -3x (+3x) + 9y=12 (+3x)

    9y=3x+12

    then divide by nine

    y=3/9 x + 12/9
