The bottom of a ladder must be placed 3 feet from a wall. The ladder is 10 feet long. How far above the ground does the ladder touch the wall?

    opp^2 + adj^2 = hyp^2

    x^2 + 3^2 = 10^2

    x ^2 = 91

    take the square root of bothside

    x = √ (91)

    x = 9.539

    Therefore the distance of the ladder above the ground is 9.539
