Translate the sentence to an equivalent algebraic equation:

twice a number (x or y), reduced by 3, is equal to 5 times the same number increased by 9

    Twice a number would be 2x reduce means minus and equal to 5x because times the same number is increased means added by 9

    answer is

    2x-3=5x+9
