The sum of 5 (x) + 4 = (-9)
We have to isolate the x so we subtract 4.
5 (x) + 4 = (-9)
5 (x) - 4 = - 4
5 (x) = ( - 13)
Now we have to continue to isolate the x.
So now we have to divide by 5.
5 (x) / 5 = (-13) / 5
and that's x = (-2.6)
