    The answer is $225.00

    let the amount in his saving be s

    : the span $50 on radio; he has $ (s - 50) left

    the spent 3/5 (s - 50) on present

    he has 2/5 (s - 50) remaining

    he kept 1/2 [2/5 (s-50) ]

    the remaining is 1/2 [2/5 (s - 50) ] = 35.00

    1/5 (s - 50) = 35

    s - 50 = 35 * 5

    s = 175 + 50

    s = 225
