    The y-intercept of the line is represented by the - 1 of the equation,

    To get the equation in slope-intercept form: y = mx + b

    y + 1 = x

    Subtract 1 from both sides

    y = x - 1

    The y - intercept would be the b in the equation, so in this case it would have to equal - 1 to make sense

    STEP 1)

    Find y of the equation y + 1 = x, then y = x-1, then for x = 0, substitute it at the equation to find the y - intercept

    step 2)

    y = 0-1, y = - 1, this is the value of y - intercept
