    Solve for x:

    5 - 3 x = 12 x + 4

    Subtract 12 x from both sides:

    5 + (-3 x - 12 x) = (12 x - 12 x) + 4

    -3 x - 12 x = - 15 x:

    -15 x + 5 = (12 x - 12 x) + 4

    12 x - 12 x = 0:

    5 - 15 x = 4

    Subtract 5 from both sides:

    (5 - 5) - 15 x = 4 - 5

    5 - 5 = 0:

    -15 x = 4 - 5

    4 - 5 = - 1:

    -15 x = - 1

    Divide both sides of - 15 x = - 1 by - 15:

    (-15 x) / (-15) = (-1) / (-15)

    (-15) / (-15) = 1:

    x = (-1) / (-15)

    Multiply numerator and denominator of (-1) / (-15) by - 1:

    Answer: x = 1/15
