When multiplying 2 binomials, use the FOIL method. Here's an example:
(5x - 1) (3x - 2)
FOIL stands for: First, Outer, Inner, Last.
1) Multiply the first numbers in each binomial.
5x • 3x = 15x^2
2) Multiply the outer numbers in each binomial.
5x • - 2 = - 10x
3) Multiply the inner numbers in each binomial.
-1 • 3x = - 3x
4) Multiply the last numbers in each binomial.
-1 • - 2 = 2
After doing this, put all of your new terms in the order in which they were solved. The original problem then becomes this:
15x^2 - 10x - 3x + 2
Simplify this by turning (-10x - 3x) into - 13x.
The final answer would be: 15x^2 - 13x + 2.
