    a1 = 8

    a9 = 48

    (48 - 8) / 8 = 40/8 = 5 difference of consecutive terms

    a (23) = 8 + [ (23-1) x 5]

    a (23) = 8 + (22x5)

    a (23) = 8 + 110

    a (23) = 118

    The 23rd term of the arithmetic sequence is 118.
