Fred wants to find the height of the tallest building in his city. He stands 169 feet away from the building. There is a tree 31 feet in front of him, which he knows is 22 feet tall. How tall is the building?

    I think it would be set up as:

    22/31=x/169

    22*169 = 31x cross multiply

    3718=31x now divide by 31

    3718/31=119.94 ft = x or height of building
