How is the graph of y = 1/3x related to its parent function y = 1/x

By comparing the two equations given, we will observe that the first equation is similar to the second except that the x is multiplied by 3. This would result to the compressing of the horizontal components of the graphs. This is otherwise known as the compression scaling.
