What is 6 (2y+8) - 2 (3y-2)

    6 • 2y = 12y

    6 • 8 = 48

    this would equal

    12y + 48

    then do the same for the other part

    2 • 3y = 6y

    2 • 2 = 4

    this would equal

    6y + 4

    put them all into one.

    12y + 48 - 6y + 4

    combine the like terms ...

    12y - 6y = 6y

    48 + 4 = 52

    the final answer would be 6y + 52
