Let p have a value of 3.6 and q have a value of 5.2. For number line A, locate p - q. For number line B, locate p + (-q).

    It is given that p = 3.6, q=5.2

    1. p - q = 3.6 - 5.2 = - 1.6 [ As 5.2 > 3.6, and 3.6 is a positive rational number and 5.2 is negative rational number, So subtract 3.6 from 5.2 and apply negative sign before the result.]→When you subtract a number on the number line you move on left side of number line.

    2. p + (-q) = 3.6 + (-5.2) = 3.6 - 5.2 = - 1.6 [ + (-) = -, Reason same as above]→ move left of number line.

    Drawn the number line below. In both the cases you get the same result and procedure are same, So number line A and B are same.
