A city received 17 inches of rain last year which was only 37% of what the usually get, how many inches doe it normally get?

    We have 17 inches = (37/100) · x;

    x = 17 : (37/100);

    x = 17 · (100/37);

    x = 1700 / 37;

    x ≈ 46;
