The difference of the square of a number and 28 is equal to 3 times that number. Find the negative solution

    If the number is x, this can be written as

    x² - 28 = 3x

    Move the 3x

    x² - 3x - 28 = 0

    Factor

    (x - 7) (x + 4) = 0

    This means that x can be 7 or - 4, so it's x = - 4
