A magazine has 120 pages. There are 28 full-page ads and 12 half-page ads. The rest of the magazine consists of articles.

    120 = 28 + 12 (½) + X

    Where X is the no. of pages of articles

    120 = 28 + 6 + X

    X = 120 - 34

    X = 86
