Work out the length of line segment PQ.

Give your answer correct to 3 significant figures.

The coordinates for line PQ are:

(-2,5)

(6,2)

The line goes down diagonally with (-2,5) on top and (6,2) on bottom.

    The length is:

    the square root of [ (the difference in 'x' values) ² + (the difference in 'y' values) ² ]

    D = √ [ (-2-6) ² + (5-2) ² ]

    = √ [ (-8) ² + (3) ² ]

    = √ (64 + 9) = √75 = 5√3 = 8.66 (rounded to 3 sig-figs)
