What angle of inclination (to the nearest whole degree) does a stairway make with the floor if the steps have a tread of 11 inches and a rise of 6 inches?

    tan x = opposite / adjacent

    tan x = 6 / 11

    tan x = 6 / 11

    x = 28.61 (or 29 degrees rounding to the nearest whole degree)
