Frank has two same size rectangles divided into the same number of equal parts. One rectangle has 3/4 of the parts shaded and the other has 1/3 of the parts shaded.

Part A

Into how many parts could each rectangle be divided? show your work by drawing the parts of each rectangle.

Part B

Is there more than one possible answer to Part A? If so, did you find the least number of parts into which both rectangles could be divided? Explain your reasoning.

    Part A has many different answers, so as long as it can be divided by 3 or 4, that's the most parts that both rectangle can be divided into. Part B yes, there are many different possible answers in part A, and in order to find out the least number of parts that the rectangle could be divided is by determining the least common denominator of 1/3 and 3/4, and that would be 12, so it can be divided into at least 12 parts.
