Selma wants to know if seventh grade students prefer to do their math homework in silence or with background music. She polled the 27 students in her music class. Nine students preferred to do their math homework in silence, and eighteen students preferred to do their math homework with background music.

We do know 7th grade students in that music class preferred music rather than silence. As shown, 18 students out of a total of 27 students preferred music as opposed to silence. And only 9 students preferred silence over music in the classroom. Therefore we can say 7th grade students in this class preferred music by double the amount of students that preferred silence.
