    The x intercept is where the line crosses the x axis or when y=0 so in functions exg

    f (x) = 3x+4

    f (x) = y so

    if f (x) = 2 (x+3) ^2

    find x intercept, set f (x) to zero

    0=2 (x+3) ^2

    so if you have xy=0 then x and/or y=0 so

    0 = (2) (x+3) ^2

    0 = (2) (x+3) (x+3)

    2≠0 so

    0 = (x+3) (x+3)

    0=x+3

    subtract 3

    -3=x

    the x intercept is - 3 or (-3,0)
