    The volume of a square pyramid is equal to:

    Volume = a^2 (h/3)

    In order for us to get the height, we need to substitute the values.

    Volume = a^2 (h/3)

    960 = 12^2 (h/3)

    960 = 144h/3

    960 = 48h

    h = 20 in.

    So the height is equal to 20 inches.
