6-2x-12=3x+4
-2x-6=3x+4
-5x=10
-5/-5
x=-2

First you want to distribute.
6-2x-12=3x+4
Then combine like terms.
-2x-6=3x+4
Then solve for x
-6=5x+4
5x=-10
x=-2
