Translate to a system of equations and solve:

Two angles are complementary. One angle is 42 degrees more than one half the other. Find the angles.

    Two angles are complementary when their sum = 90

    therefore let x = angle 1

    angle 2 = 1/2x + 42

    therefore x + 1/2x + 42 = 90

    1 1/2 x = 90-42

    1 1/2x = 48

    x = 32
