What is 3/4 plus 5/6 equal

    Okay Megan831, the first thing we must do is find a common denominator.

    We do this by find what 4 and 6 will both fit into.

    In this case they both fit into 12

    Now knowing this we want to make 12 the denominator for both 3/4 and 5/6, but we must remember to change to numerator too so that the value of both the numbers doesn't change.

    3/4 = 9/12 and 5/6 = 10/12

    The problem should now look like this ...

    9/12 + 10/12

    Since the denominator of the two are the same we can simply add the numerators 9 + 10 = 19

    , but remember to keep the denominator 12

    so it should look something like this ...

    19/12
