The length of a rectangle is 6 cm shorter than twice the width. The perimeter of the rectangle is 42 cm. Find the length and the width of the rectangle show your work

    42 = (2w-6) + (2w-6) + w+w

    42=6w-12

    54=6w

    w=9

    42=2l+18

    24=2l

    l=12

    length = 12cm, width = 9cm
